Each expedition has seven questions. You have twenty seconds for each one, so take a breath and find your angle.
Look beyond the obvious
Type a correct answer and press Enter or Submit. A less obvious answer can uncover a more valuable find.
Collect your discoveries
Unearth gold or a gemstone after each correct answer. Finish all seven questions to reveal your total and share your discoveries.

How rare-answer scoring works
Six finds, six values. Each correct answer uncovers gold or a gemstone. Their points are set in advance, so your score does not change as more people play.

The first answer that comes to mind is a useful foothold. If you know the subject well, look one step beyond it: a smaller country, an earlier film, an instrument you rarely hear.
Keep the question’s exact wording in mind. A clear, correct answer beats an elaborate guess, and twenty seconds passes quickly.

What is raredelve?
raredelve is a browser trivia game about finding the less obvious correct answer. Play a seven-question expedition, collect gold and gemstones, and see how many points you can uncover.
Is it free? Do I need an account?
You can play free in your browser without signing in. Use the same browser to return to your current expedition; progress does not automatically follow you to another device or browser.
How are answers scored?
Accepted answers have preset values: a gold flake is worth 10 points, a gold nugget 15, an emerald 30, a ruby 60, an amethyst cluster 85, and a diamond 100. These values are not live percentages of what other players answered.
What if my answer is not recognized?
Read the message beneath the answer box. If an answer cannot be confirmed, you can try another answer while time remains. The clock keeps running, so a short, clear answer is a useful starting point.
Can I pause, close the page, or refresh?
The clock does not pause when you leave or refresh the page. Return in the same browser and choose Begin expedition to resume an available session. Any round deadline that has already passed still applies.
When does the daily challenge change?
Daily challenges follow a UTC schedule, with a new day beginning at 00:00 UTC. The changeover time in your local timezone may be different.
Can I play again after finishing?
After completing your official daily expedition, you can play again in practice mode. Practice gives you another chance to explore the questions without replacing your completed daily result.
Which expedition should I choose?
Start with the daily expedition for a broad challenge, or choose a subject you enjoy. Geography, language, film, music, and sport each have their own world to explore.
